The Heart of the Matter

As much as I can attest to having a great time at the con, one thing vexed me. You see, I'm a member of the SFR Brigade (Science Fiction Romance) and I was looking forward to championing the genre to the straight SF crowd. The crowd surprised me and took an "oh that is awesome" attitude. Which should be a good thing.

Except I wanted to exercise my diplomatic skills, and they were completely unnecessary.

Really, it is a good thing, but now I need an outlet, and I've had a few days to mull it over. Guess what? You guys win.(or lose depending on how you look at it) I've decided that deprived of my favorite rant at the con, I shall undertake it here on the blog. yippee!

come on. yip?

We'll make it a semi-regular installment and you guys can add on to the list of:

Romances Lurking in the Sci-Fi Section

Snappy title, eh? Well, you know what I mean, I go on about it enough. The idea is that we've been reading science fiction romance for decades, and are already fans of it. We just didn't have a nice tidy label for it back then. More importantly, we don't have to fear the label. We can shamelessly read science fiction romance without fear of the bodice ripper. We've been doing it for years, proudly.
So hold your head up high folks, scan that old library again, and shout out those science fiction romance favorites--whatever their shelving geography.

My first one:

Wall-E
(okay, its a movie, but I'm open to anything here) Wall-E illustrates the point nicely. And, I'm sorry, the romance was the central plot without question.

can you name one?
